Sense of Place

How do we mark and register the world around us and how does it mark us? For me to relate to place I need a map. But a map wasn’t available in this instance so to record the process of familiarising myself with a new location I decided to make my own maps.
I have been using a meter wheel and a compass to record the distance and direction I have been walking, each day adding further information as my sense of recognition of place grows.
