Interruptions
You can take the girl out of Belfast, but the desire to know and visually connect with our beautiful, shared human-ness travels with me in my veins.
Our part time home of Pietrafitta is surrounded by stunning peaks and hills, with slashes of sporadic villages that line the topography like living interruptions.
The continuous chatter of birdsong, bats, barking dogs and nature breathing, is interjected with the rhythmic tolling of the bell tower, reverberating just beyond my window and reminding me of the Leonard Cohen lyrics,
“Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There’s a crack in everything
That’s how the light gets in”
This Pietrafittan pause is a space to breathe in and resonate stories, sound, light and beautiful imperfections.
