Trimming

Inspired by the Colour Chart gifted to me on my first day at Atelier, I have refocused on elements found within this source.

This has revealed itself in many forms. The first is handmade artist books, a nod to the colour chart’s almost pop-up book format. This has been created into a flutter book and triangle accordion books that mirror the décor found in the salon. These first samples have shown that there’s an element missing and I think need another iteration.

The handwritten changes to the notation found in the book have been magnified in a sculptural object by having the changes printed on acrylic.

The colour sample Pacific Blond has been created into a pattern and digitally printed onto acrylic to be potentially displayed as an intervention on the bars at the entrance of the building.

Having created a wide breadth of other work – these elements feel cohesive and honour the source material and will more than likely be included in the exhibition of works that will launch on the 21 September at Atelier Hair in Ebrington Square.
