HEARTLANDS RESIDENCIES
Since 2024 Art Arcadia has been running HEARTLANDS: a residencies programme that sees Art Arcadia inviting artists to research, produce, exhibit and discuss cutting-edge work at the heart of the community.
HEARTLANDS takes place in locations that historically have been the beating heart of community life: hairdresser’s salons, cafes, libraries, workplaces. The artists can experiment and respond to the unique studio locations, and, as the residency progresses, gradually transmute the location into an exhibition space. The nature of the placement means that the artists are fully embedded in the community, taking part in the everyday life, exchanges, dynamics, and occasional small dramas that permeate communally inhabited places.
Proposals
The HEARTLANDS residencies duration can vary from four weeks to three months. We welcome new applications from artists, businesses and organisations. For detailed information and for requesting application guidelines, please email us using the form on the Contact Us page.

HEARTLANDS CONVERSATIONS
CONVERSATIONS are one-day artist led events. Each artist works with community groups/spaces of their choice and establishes a topic of conversation and art-making in consultation with the participants. We have reimagined the artist talks into a dialogue and an opportunity for audiences to interact with the artists in informal settings that are the hub of community life.
