Leaving an empty space, driving again towards a body of water, thoughts about feeling work shy, longing to find something, ephemeral acts that haven’t found their way yet, wondering if they need to, re-wetting process, documenting the feeling of a place, slowly following the coastline, walking along the edges of liquid space, collecting, tracing desire paths, smell of the sea consumes the car, wet swimsuit wrapped in a towel, stopping for a warm drink, deciding between waterproof coat or warm coat, never making the right choice, listening to the rain bounce off the windscreen, looking through hag stones, and of course floating.
The residency at Art Arcadia presented Niamh with the opportunity to explore Inishowen’s peninsula. Idle Sweats attempts to translate ephemeral moments of driving, finding floating spots, tracing desire paths, carrying found stones in pockets, listening, and resting on rocks.
